After four years immersed in Nashville’s legendary singer-songwriter scene, platinum-selling Australian Idol winner Wes Carr returns home with a guitar, a lifetime of songs and plenty of stories to tell.

Fresh from performing and writing across the United States, including appearances at SXSW and CMA events, Wes brings The Hits – Unplugged to the Tamworth Country Music Festival for an intimate journey through the music that has shaped his remarkable career.

From Feels Like Woah, You and Love Is An Animal, to songs from his acclaimed Buffalo Tales and Wesley Dean projects, Wes strips everything back to where it began: a voice, a guitar and a great song. A founding member of Tambalane with Silverchair’s Ben Gillies, Wes has spent more than two decades carving out a career as one of Australia’s most distinctive singer-songwriters. His work has taken him from Australian Idol and platinum-selling records to Nashville writing rooms, American highways and stages around the world. His songwriting credits include co-writing Cold Chisel’s Lost, while his Crazy Hearts Across America project saw him travel across the United States documenting the people, places and stories behind the songs.

More recently, Wes has performed at the iconic Mundi Mundi Bash, Gympie Muster, debut his show The Springsteen Songbook Unplugged in Sydney, starred in Rolling Thunder Vietnam and appeared opposite Mahalia Barnes in Highway To Hell: The Aussie Rock N Roll Circus -  continuing a career that has always moved effortlessly between rock, roots, country and storytelling.

Whether backed by a roaring band or standing alone with an acoustic guitar, Wes has always been a storyteller first.
