The Lanes Stories

16 Jan 2027 - The Listening Room at Tamworth Community Event Centre

Presented by The Lanes

Join First Nations siblings Sarah and Joshua Lane for an intimate performance of original country and folk music, heartfelt storytelling, and rich sibling harmonies.

Drawing on personal experiences, family history, community, and cultural identity, The Lanes create authentic performances that connect deeply with audiences. Their songs explore themes of family, belonging, resilience, place, and connection, inviting listeners to reflect on the stories that shape who we are.

As part of The Lanes' Stories Tour, this special performance showcases original songs presented in a warm, acoustic-led setting. Combining engaging storytelling with genuine musical connection, Sarah and Joshua create a welcoming atmosphere where audiences can relax, listen, and become part of the journey.

The Lanes have performed at festivals, community events, and venues across Queensland, including the North Australia Festival of Arts (NAFA) Corroboree, celebrating Indigenous music, dance, and arts. They continue to build a growing audience through their commitment to original music, storytelling, and community connection.

Joshua Lane was the winner of the Townsville Folk Festival Amnesty International Human Rights Songwriting Competition for his song Let Him Run, a powerful work exploring the experiences of young people in detention. This commitment to meaningful storytelling sits at the heart of The Lanes' music, combining personal narratives with broader social themes to create songs that are both moving and thought-provoking.

The Stories Tour celebrates the power of music to bring people together across generations, cultures, and communities. Whether you're a long-time country and folk music fan or discovering The Lanes for the first time, this performance offers an opportunity to experience authentic Australian songwriting in an intimate and memorable setting.

Through music and storytelling, Sarah and Joshua share stories of family, culture, community, and everyday life, creating performances that are honest, engaging, and deeply relatable. Their warm stage presence and natural connection invite audiences to laugh, reflect, and connect through shared experiences.
