SWEET DREAMS WAY OUT WEST

with special guests
DUST MUSIC featuring GREG STORER & PETE DENAHY

As the Tamworth Country Music Festival turns 50 in 2022, it is fitting that two of the country's most awarded artists are sharing the stage in a special concert for the very first time.  SARA STORER and JAMES BLUNDELL are among the most awarded and respected of the country genre with a total of two ARIAs and 30 Golden Guitar awards between them.

Well known for their ability to tell an authentic story with the landscape and characters of Australia as inspiration, Sara and James have penned and recorded some of country music’s most loved and enduring songs.  Tracks such as Buffalo Bill, Back Outback, Man Trap, Raining on the Plains, Beautiful Circle, Sweet Dreams, Come On Rain, and Raindance have kept audiences flocking to Sara’s shows for more than 20 years.

Although it was the hit single Way Out West that bought James to national prominence, it’s his amazing catalogue of original compositions that best tells the story of his musical journey since the release of his self-titled debut album in 1989. A prolific songwriter, James has released 14 albums during his career to date with hits and album favourites that include Kimberley Moon, The Blue Heeler, Hand It Down, This Road, Rain on a Tin Roof, Mysterious Ways, Ring Around The Moon and so many more.  Acknowledged by many as the artist who single-handedly shaped modern Australian country music, James is more relevant today than ever.

Since her record-setting win of 7 Golden Guitars in a single night at the 2004 Country Music Awards of Australia, Sara has continued to release music of substance and receive praise from her peers including Paul Kelly, John Williamson, Colin Hay and the Waifs.

Joining Sara and James in this very special show is Sara’s brother GREG STORER along with his daughters, Bonny and Pip who are collectively known as DUST MUSIC.

Musical talent runs deep in the Storer family with patriarch Lindsay often leading a sing-along with his 7 children at their family farm in the ‘Mallee’, Victoria.

Capping off the line-up is talented multi- instrumentalist legend, PETE DENAHY.  With 5 Golden Guitar Awards to his credit, Pete has worked with Slim Dusty and Lee Kernaghan and many others in between. Although well known for his comedy material, Pete has composed some of country music’s most poignant and beautiful songs.

This special concert kicks off in the historic Tamworth Town Hall at 12pm on Thursday 20th January.

Tickets are sure to sell fast for what is a one-off event during the 50th Anniversary celebrations of the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
