PICTURES AT AN EXHIBITION
08 Dec 2018 - TRECC
Presented by Tamworth City Dance Academy
Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.
Edgar Degas
Iconic paintings, drawings and sculptures provide the stimulus for the Tamworth City Dance Academy’s 2018 major production, Pictures at an Exhibition.
Lyrical dancers are thrown across the stage as though cast from one of Jackson Pollock’s brushes, contemporary performers portray Munch’s enormous infinite scream of nature and life is breathed into Degas’ elegant and petite classical ballerinas.
"Dance is our art, the stage is our canvas. Our bodies are the brushes...our imagination is the paint."
Performed by over 400 students, from their Tamworth and Quirindi studios, and aged from 3 to adult, Tamworth City Dance Academy have transformed their shows from the more traditional dance recital to the arena of dance spectacular with production values that rival any touring show.
