ROMEO & JULIET
17 - 25 Aug - Capitol Theatre
Presented by Tamworth Dramatic Society
By William Shakespeare
“Here’s much to do with hate, but more with love”
A timeless Shakespeare tale of young love struggling to survive amid a brutal and long standing feud between two families.
Old hatreds are reignited in the stifling heat of a long hot summer – the air fills with rage and torment as a new generation takes up their parents’ hostilities. But out of the violence grows a seed of hope, Romeo & Juliet, born of a single stolen moment between two star crossed lovers from either side of the conflict – their forbidden love as strong as their parents’ hate. Fate dictates their future and violence leads to fatal consequences.
"My only love sprung from my only hate." - Juliet (I, V, 147)
Tamworth Dramatic Society is proud to present this ‘made in Tamworth’ production of Shakespeare’s most beloved play, as vibrant and lively as ever, speaking boldly across the centuries to the divided world we live in today.
