A BEGUILING NIGHT OF MELANCHOLIC SONGS, POETIC STORYTELLING AND HAUNTING VOCALS
Renaissance woman, painter and poet, Joni Mitchell created a soundtrack for the Woodstock generation. Australian star of cabaret and musical theatre, Queenie van de Zandt, renowned for her artful storytelling and raw, emotive vocals, explores the songs, stories and art of this musical legend.
In Blue: The Songs of Joni Mitchell, along with legendary musical director Max Lambert and a live band, Queenie take us on a sonic journey through Joni’s life, loses and loves, affectionately reinterpreting Mitchell’s melancholy music, and reveals the stories behind some of her most haunting songs such as A Case of You, Both Sides Now and Little Green.
“Queenie van de Zandt... summoned her muse to perfection, with awe-inspiring soul and emotion, in song.” Sydney Morning Herald
Following rave reviews, and sell-out performances in 2017 in Queensland, Melbourne and Sydney, the show continued its success touring Australia and the USA in 2018. Along the way it won 3 prestigious theatre awards, a Helpmann Award nomination and the Sydney Theatre Award for Best Cabaret Production.
